This site was developed by Joan Merrill, producer of the NPR Jazz Profile, Carmen McRae and the video, Saying It With Jazz (see www.sayingitwithjazz.com) which features Carmen along with Etta Jones, Lorez Alexandria, Carol Sloane, Madeline Eastman and Rebecca Parris. Assisting was Nich Anderson - voice teacher, singer, and website designer (for Nancy King, Deborah Brown, and Rebecca Parris, among many others). He created the masthead, provided lots of photos and offered much technical advice. Paul Mikos, an avid Carmen fan, kindly lent historic Down Beat magazines from his Carmen McRae collection.
